Magazines in a time of coronavirus: Editorial Magazine
Inspired by MacGuffin, which bases every issue around one seemingly mundane object, we asked the editors of our favourite magazines to share an object that brings them comfort. Touch now carries the risk of contagion, but strangely, that new reality has made the physical contact we do have — and the physical things we surround ourselves with — feel more precious. Up today, Claire Milbrath of Editorial Magazine tells us what’s giving her hope.
“This is my bear Kissy. I got her in Hakone, Japan from a really cute toy store. The way she’s standing makes her look like she’s an officer reporting for duty. I bring Kissy out when someone feels sad, she’s like a guardian. But these days she’s working overtime, constantly overseeing morale and making sure everyone is safe. I’ve been relying on my stuffies and toys so much lately, I probably seem insane. I talk to them and ask them what they want for dinner. I take care of them like they’re my children. When Kissy is on my desk, I find I work harder.”
