Stack at Home: February 2021, Year Zero

Published in Turkey and with a long list of contributors from across the Middle East and far beyond, Year Zero presents a hugely varied selection of underground music, fashion, art and more. This issue is themed around ‘process’, deconstructing the concept into six different stages that are visualised on the contents page as a sort of lunatic venn diagram, showing the relationships between different stories in a series of ellipses that are themselves suggestive of big zeros sprawling across the pages. The message here is clear: there is no beginning and there is no end; there is just the process, so surrender yourself to it and see where it takes you.

It was lovely to see that Stack subscribers enjoy this issue as much as we do. Below, we’ve rounded up our favourite photographs. Scroll down to see the Stack subscriber of the month.

5. Brown paper packages

Stack subscriber Emily Shaw knows that good things always come in brown paper packages.

4. Glitter

We like this glittery flick-through the magazine.

3. Flowers

We love the way this image, by Stack subscriber Fernanda Galmez Egaña, mimics the diagram format of Year Zero’s contents page.

2. Meaty review

Dylan at the International Magazine Centre gave Year Zero a lovely review via Instagram, picking out pieces about the 2020 Women’s Strike in Warsaw, and an interview with Ukrainian artist John Object.

1. Dog love

This photograph of Pepper the dog enjoying Year Zero is pretty dreamy. Money-can’t-buy Stack t-shirt on its way to you, Nieve!
