“With love. From an Invader.”
Elephant is a long-running arts magazine that has recently undergone a dynamic redesign. One extraordinary feature in issue 46 is about the work of photographer Yan Wang Preston, titled ‘With love. From an Invader.’ Preston photographed the same rhododendron bush for 365 days and that title, she explains in the accompanying editorial, “sums up the position of the rhododendrons, and perhaps people like me in this country: foreign, coloured, gendered, invasive. Yet full of love and the will to make this new homeland.”
See our video review for more on Preston’s work as well as other highlights from the latest issue of what is, in my view, one of the most exciting arts magazines publishing today.
