Video review: Salvage magazine

It’s sometimes said of independent magazines that they prioritise style over substance, but the accusation could never be levelled at Salvage magazine, a new quarterly edited by Rosie Warren (Verso Books), Jamie Allinson (University of Westminster) and China Miéville (world famous weird fiction author).

Beginning from the position that society has been wrecked by capitalism, Salvage sets out to find “a strategy for ruination”, a way to live with and even oppose the destruction. It’s provocative stuff, and yet somehow also incredibly reasonable, pointing out injustice and incompetence across the political spectrum and asking why can’t we expect better?
