Bearded is back! (sort of)
Regular readers will know all about Bearded. About how I got really excited to find this high quality little music magazine, and about how it folded earlier this year after just two paid for issues. It was great while it lasted, and now you don’t have to take my word for it.
Bearded’s ex-editor contacted me yesterday to announce the relaunch of his site, complete with emag versions of every issue of Bearded, including the four free ones that came before I even knew about it. I love the enthusiasm that independent magazines are showing for emags, and especially issuu, which ‘powers’ the Bearded emags and seems to be fast becoming industry standard.
Take a look – you have to use the drop down menu under ‘Publishing’ on the Fleeing From Pigeons site, but it’s great being able to skip right back to issue one and then up to the national distribution of issue five. Remarkably little changed along the way, which might help to explain why it feels like such a nice magazine, and why it went out of business so quickly.
And if that makes you want to reaquaint yourself more fully with Bearded, get yourself along to The Doghouse in Kennington tomorrow night for the Fleeing From Pigeons live show, featuring Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences, Pagan Wanderer Lu and Dig for Fire.
