Insider: Cereal magazine

Flicking through the travel and lifestyle magazine Cereal, one can easily start to daydream about what founders Rosa Park and Rich Stapleton’s workdays look like… presumably travelling, checking out new cafés, and generally surrounding themselves with beautiful things.

But we’ve a feeling it may not be that simple. So we asked Rosa and Rich to share a few of the ups and downs that came with working on issue 10.

In the making of this issue we…
Discovered Antwerp is our new favourite city in Europe. Get thee to Antwerp. You won’t regret it.

Drank
A lot of smoothies. They’re perfect as breakfast on the go when you’re in a rush, or when you just want to blend some stuff and have an awesome fruity drink.

Watched
Air Crash Investigations because it’s the best show in the world. I (Rosa) am a little bit obsessed with plane crashes; maybe it’s all the flying we do.

Went on
Quite a number of lovely walks to take a break from staring at the computer screen all day and night. It makes a huge difference to how you feel.

Learned
About the glory of slowcookers. We now slowcook a chicken every Sunday and use the leftover chicken for a further 2-3 meals. Amazing.

Argued about
Which Agnes Martin painting to choose for the limited edition Agnes Martin cover. Rich won and we went with the light grey one.

Were excited about
Having Karl the Fog (the famous SF fog) be the cover star of Volume 10. He’s the bomb.

Wish that we had
Taken a summer holiday. We had to cancel our holiday to Sicily for a last minute work thing.

And finally, everyone should buy a copy because
We spent many a sleepless night trying to make this the best issue of Cereal to date.
