Is Not Magazine – Is Poster
I was at the Design Museum last night taking a look at the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year show when I came across Is Not Magazine. A magazine reworked and repackaged as a poster, it was published bi-monthly and distributed to 80 sites on the streets of Melbourne and Sydney.
The last issue came out in March last year (that’s according to the exhibition’s little info card – the Is Not Magazine website says things finally wound up in August) and it struck me as interesting for two reasons: First of all, I like the idea of covering advertising sites with words and pictures that are free from any actual advertising – not for any No Logo anti-corporate reasons, just for fun. And second, it’s very similar to a European magazine as poster project that I saw while at Colophon in March, and which Stack subscribers will be receiving in their May delivery as a special extra free thing.
I don’t want to spoil the surprise so won’t give any more details now, but will blog about it in a week or so once the magazines have gone out.
