Port out (soon)
I got unreasonably excited yesterday when I read the news that Dan Crowe is lining up Port, a new men’s style title, for launch in February. Apparently the list of contributing editors is going to include Tilda Swinton, Jon Snow, Hanif Kureishi and Ekow Eshun, with investigative reports from the likes of Martin Amis and ex-Time editor Don Morrison.
I’ve written before about my love for Zembla, Crowe’s literary magazine that was published from around 2003 to 2006, and I can’t wait to see what he does with Port. If Zembla was a literary magazine dressed up as a style title, it sounds like Port is approaching things the other way around, creating a more thoughtful, playful sort of men’s magazine.
February suddenly seems like a very long way away.
