Printout first birthday
That’s right – Printout has been on the go for a year now. We’re not about to get the jelly and ice cream out but we wanted to mark the occasion somehow, so we decided that the best way to celebrate its young life was by paying our respects to the dead.
One of my favourite things about Making Magazines the other week was the series of short talks on magazines that have closed down. When Jeremy suggested that we give the format its own night I jumped at the idea, and we’ve got a fantastic line up of magazine people all ready to remember their favourite deceased magazines.
Simon Esterson, art director of Eye, gave a great talk at Making Magazines about dearly departed German title Twen, so I’m looking forward to hearing him speak again.
Patrick Burgoyne of Creative Review will also cast his mind back to come up with a favourite title, as will self-confessed magazine nut and creator of Gym Class Magazine, Steven Gregor. That should leave us with time for one more speaker (to be announced nearer the date) and we’ll also host the return of the magazine library, packed with great independent titles from around the world.
Tickets are on sale now, priced at the ever-reasonable £5. We’ll be limiting the number of tickets again to make sure everyone can see the screen, so book soon to avoid disappointment!
