Video review: Odd One Out magazine

A new independent title published in Malaysia, Odd One Out magazine makes a virtue of being the same but different.

The same, in that its aesthetic draws upon familiar tropes established by magazines like Apartamento. And different, in that it offers a fascinating view of the world as seen by young Malaysians, and presents it with an inventive playfulness that is the unmistakable hallmark of magazine makers having fun with their medium.

This is a strong first issue, and I’m really excited to see where they take it from here.
