Who wants to make a magazine?
We’ve had a brilliant response to the call for contributors to this weekend’s magazine – thanks to everyone who has already said they’re going to come along and lend a hand. We’re going to meet up tonight to start working out exactly what this magazine is going to be, so if you want to get involved either come along tonight or just drop in over the weekend and we’ll see what we can find for you to do.
A few things to bear in mind if you’re planning to come along:
// We’ll be meeting at 7pm tonight to say hello to each other, have a walk around the site, get inspired, look at the timetable, and start allocating jobs to people. We’re going to be open to contributions throughout the entire weekend, but if you want to have your name assigned to a particular job, tonight is the time to do it. We’ll meet in the Royal Festival Hall, Level 2, Blue side, near the ballroom. Coming tonight doesn’t guarantee you’ll be given a set job to do – I’ve got no idea how many people will turn up, so we’re playing it all by ear!
// The centre is open from 10am to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday, so please feel free to come by at any time. We’ll have things that you can do in five minutes or things that you could spend all day on, but again, it’s worth emphasising that it’s all going to be very rough and ready and made up as we go along, so bear with us!
// You should bring everything you need with you on the weekend. We’re going to have an A4 printer and scanner, plus pens, printer paper and those sort of office essentials, but everything else needs to come from you. Bring your laptop, dictaphone, camera, nice drawing things, etc. There will be a room where we can lock things away overnight, but it would be much better to just take stuff away with you at the end of the day.
// We’re going to be based in the Royal Festival Hall, Level 2, Green side, in the corner near the ballroom. There should be some kind of signage to show what we’re doing, but just look for the group of people huddled around laptops and you won’t go far wrong.
I think that’s about it for now. Can’t wait to get stuck in and start making this magazine!
