Old clothes, new tricks
Monument is a fashion magazine that conceives of itself as a tribute — a kind of paper monument — dedicated to immortalising The Dutch Wave, a group of designers from the Netherlands who emerged at the turn of the millennium. This third issue is about Oscar Suleyman. One fabulous innovation of Monument’s editor Mary-Lou Berkulin has been to raid the designer’s archive and recreate certain outfits for modern muses (Berkulin was frustrated that the clothes were in tiny model sample sizes).
