Podcast: Fraser Allen, Hot Rum Cow magazine
We tend to spend a lot of time on the Stack blog talking about new magazines and getting excited about launches, but it’s rare that we give coverage to the closure of a magazine. That makes this week’s episode of the podcast something of an exception to the rule, because it features Fraser Allen, publisher of Hot Rum Cow (pictured, above, with the rest of the team) announcing their decision to call time on the project.
The independent magazine dedicated to booze was launched five years ago and this summer it won Best Cocktail and Spirits Publication at the Spirited Awards in New Orleans. But as Fraser explains, there were several reasons why they decided to cease publication, and he reflects in detail on the challenges and successes from his time making the magazine.
