If you’re a Stack subscriber you should be pretty familiar with Anxy magazine, the California-based title dedicated to smashing stigmas around mental health. We delivered it to subscribers last month, and judging by the response on Instagram and Twitter, people loved getting to know this first issue, themed around anger.

It’s a fascinating new title, so I jumped at the chance to speak with contributing editor Kati Krause when she was in London last week. Kati has had her own personal troubles with depression, and in this week’s episode of the podcast she reveals how those experiences and her response to them led to her involvement with Anxy, a print magazine made nearly 6,000 miles away from where she’s based in Berlin.

There’s a tendency in independent magazines for people to be print evangelists, but Kati also has a wealth of experience writing and editing online, and I loved hearing her thoughtful and analytical explanation of why Anxy did in fact need to be a print magazine.

I hope this conversation will help reveal some of the thinking and processes that went into creating Anxy, and remember that if you’d like to hear more independent magazine makers speaking about what they do, you can find lots more of these episodes on Soundcloud or iTunes. Follow us while you’re there, and we’ll deliver next week’s episode to you as soon as it’s ready on Friday afternoon.
