Print magazines are good at providing an escape. They can’t link you out to anywhere else; they can’t boost your productivity; they can’t help you stay in touch with your friends; and the only way anyone can see what you’re reading is by looking over your shoulder.

Satori magazine is a new title that takes advantage of all these limitations to provide a lovely, contemplative reading experience. Mixing philosophy, science, religion and more, its stated aim is to give the reader “moments of pause and thought”, matching some beautifully grand photography with personal and affecting writing by the likes of Pico Iyer (this issue’s guest editor), Oliver Burkeman and others.

Take a look at the video below to see it for yourself, and if you like the look of it, order yourself a slice of stillness in print.
