Archive Americana unpacked in Archivio magazine
A magazine that raids archives around the world to construct each issue, Archivio has built its latest edition around the theme of Americana. Presenting a series of perspectives on America in the 20th century, it covers subjects including black female identity, Cold War propaganda and the emergence of the hippy counterculture, drawing upon archive imagery and matching it with expert interviews and analysis.
This is Archivio’s third issue and I think it’s their best so far – take a look at our shop listing for more spreads and a sample story list, and while you’re there you might want to check out issues one and two as well. It’s a brilliantly original editorial concept and a totally fascinating selection of stories, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where the archive adventures take them next.
