Published from California, Anxy places mental health front and centre, and this launch issue focuses specifically on the subject of anger. In her founder’s letter, Indhira Rojas explains that she set out, “to explore the full spectrum of anger, how and when it is useful, and when it’s harmful”. But even given that primer I was amazed by the many different flavours of anger on show.
Anxy won both Launch of the Year and Subscribers’ Choice at the Stack Awards in 2017, and this excellent first issue is well worth your time. The anger on display here is personal and political, petty and profound, raw and resolved; it’s a blistering array of anger, and it can make for uncomfortable reading at times. It’s also a collection of honest, committed and original writing, photography and illustration by people who are dedicated to understanding themselves and the times we live in.
