Fare magazine is a biannual print publication exploring city culture through the intersections of food, history, and community. Each issue is guided by local writers, photographers, and illustrators who give expert insight as well as a taste of the creative aesthetic.
This issue explores Kampala, Uganda’s lively capital; a city shaped by the traditions of the ancient Buganda kingdom, British imperialism, and the many new migrant groups that now call it home.
In this issue:
- ‘Nsenene’, the flying delicacy of Uganda’s rainy season
- Joan Nassolo, Princess of Buganda, on the history of one of Uganda’s oldest traditional kingdoms
- ‘The Rolex’, the Indian-inspired king of Ugandan street snacks
- The story behind ‘kafunda’, Kampala’s small grocery stores-turned-bars
Issue five and Issue seven of Fare are also available in the Stack shop.
