The Little Atoms radio show launched more than 10 years ago on Resonance FM, London’s arts radio project. A meeting place for ideas, the show hosts some of the most interesting voices in politics, literature, science, art and comedy, giving them space to properly explore a topic in detail.
This is the launch issue of the radio show’s first print magazine, published in 2015 as a way of expanding the brand. Some of the content is taken directly from the radio show, while other pieces were created specially for the magazine, but the common thread running through it all is the thoughtfulness and dedication to detail. It’s a strange experience at first, reading a piece like the interview with Eric Schlosser (page 21), which is essentially the transcript of his appearance on the show. But the stories he tells, of nuclear disasters narrowly averted and absurdly illogical Cold War tactics, kept me glued to the page.
