Migrant Journal explores the idea of migration in all its forms — the circulation of people, goods, fauna and flora around the world, and the transformative impact they have on space.

With issue four focusing on the theme of “Darkness” in all its complexity, by examining the relationship between these elements — traveling from California to West Africa — Migrant Journal aims to rethink our approach to migration and critically explore the new spaces it creates.

Migrant Journal was commended in Magazine of the Year, Editor of the Year and Art Director of the Year at the 2018 Stack Awards

In this issue:

  • The migration of psychotropic mushroom across the deserts of California
  • The decolonisation of money
  • The use of artificial intelligence to determine asylum seekers origins
  • Centuries-old peoples from West Africa living deep in the forest of Suriname
  • The “kamikazis” smuggling petrol from Nigeria to Benin – and many other stories of darkness and migration

Migrant Journal issues two, five and six are also available to buy in the Stack shop.
