Everything in Pencil Magazine is created with graphite pencils on paper. All texts are hand-written, all illustrations are lovingly crafted, and the whole project is a celebration of the analogue experiences made possible by the humble pencil. This third issue is ‘The Letter Writing Issue’.
In this issue:
- Handwriting as art, demonstrating layers of cultural inheritance
- Handwriting as shame and anxiety, struggling to write a legible sentence
- An interview with Karl Haendel, the artist who makes huge, photo-realistic drawings in pencil
- Lots of comics and cartoons
- And instructions for how to mail a potato
