A taste of Stack

One of the best things we did last year was ask our subscribers and followers for help. We put the call out at the end of October 2023, asking people to help us by recommending Stack to a friend. We set up a referral scheme, so that new subscribers got 10% off our normal prices, and the person who referred them got a free magazine, and it led to a decent number of new subscribers who are still with us today. But more than that, it gave our members a reason to talk about Stack, and lots of people helped by sharing the message on Instagram, or writing about us online, or just telling friends about what we do.

We used to depend on social media as a way of reaching new people, but that’s become more difficult, so it was fantastic to see such genuine support bubbling up and new people joining our club. We want to do it again this year, but we’re changing the focus slightly, and instead of trying to sell subscriptions upfront, we first of all want to put the magazines into more people’s hands. And that’s where you come in.

Can you put us in touch with somebody who would love Stack, but who doesn’t know about us? Just tell us who they are and a sentence or two about why you think we should set them up with a free membership, and we’ll pick 50 people to each receive a three-month subscription. There’s no payment involved, and of course there’s no commitment that either you or they will continue the subscription from February onwards.

Selling Stack is an odd business – we ask people to pay in advance for magazines they haven’t seen before, and which are absolutely not based on the things they like. It requires a certain open-mindedness, and a willingness to be surprised, and that’s what we’re looking for in the 50 people we choose.
