Guest post: C’mon to Papel
C’mon to Papel is a meeting focused on independent publishing. It was conceived, curated and organised by design studio Naranjo—Etxeberria and the first event was held in Madrid on Thursday 20th November, with over 100 people in attendance.
The round table format provides a way of having an informal chat, and we heard from people working in different areas of the editorial process, who spoke about how a printed magazine is created, designed and distributed nowadays.
In the future we plan to discuss the reasons that move someone to start a self-publishing project; the development of the editorial concept; the challenges of distribution; and the always complicated economic issues. We also expect it will be useful to reflect the current state of independent publishing in Spain.
Marc Sancho of Perdíz magazine spoke about the concept of their magazine.
Miguel Naranjo explained how Cookbook magazine works.
Albert Folch spoke about new web-based editorial projects.
