Podcast: Ruth Jamieson and Angharad Lewis
We spend lots of time at Stack looking at individual magazines, but sometimes it’s good to take a step back and consider the broader picture of independent publishing. Angharad Lewis (above, left) is the author of So You Want to Publish a Magazine, and Ruth Jamieson (above, right) is the author of Print is Dead. Long Live Print, and together they judged the Student Magazine of the Year category in this year’s Stack Awards.
They came over to Somerset House for our judging session this week, so after the deliberations were over, I took the opportunity to speak with them about the state of independent publishing today. They both picked up on the theme of community, which is so often discussed in relation to independent magazine makers, and expanded on some of the trends and developments we’ve seen in recent years.
We’re up to episode 51 of the podcast now, so if you love independent magazines, take a look through the back catalogue on Soundcloud or iTunes to see whether your favourites are there. And remember that if you follow us we’ll be able to deliver next week’s episode as soon as it’s ready.
