Printout: Editors’ special
These days virtually anyone with a laptop and an internet connection can make their own magazine. This democratisation of publishing is driving a huge surge in creativity, but what does massive openness do to the role of the editor, a job that used to be restricted to the few?
That’s the one of the questions we’ll be asking our expert panel as Printout returns to The Book Club in Shoreditch on Tuesday 24 May.
We’ve invited four of the most exciting editors from London’s independent magazine scene to share their thoughts on the changes, and to offer their insights into what magazine makers should be doing to ensure the best quality results.
Come along to hear from:
Penny Martin, editor-in-chief of The Gentlewoman, an elegant alternative to mainstream women’s magazines.
John L Walters, editor of Eye magazine, the international review of graphic design.
Steven Gregor, founder and editor of Gym Class, a magazine about magazines, both mainstream and independent.
Ben Eastham, co-editor of the quarterly arts and literary journal The White Review.
Tickets are just £6 from our Eventbrite page and we’re expecting them to go fast, so pick yours up and we’ll see you there.
