Stack awards: Best information design
Have you seen a really great infographic this year? Or an independent magazine that does an amazing job of visualising data to tell a complex story clearly and easily? If the answer’s yes, we need your help.
The Stack Awards are our attempt to recognise the best work done by independent publishers between October 2014 and September 2015. All the details for how to enter are on the awards page, so if you know a magazine that should enter, please send them a link to this post – we want to hear from them!
Best information design
It seems like infographics are everywhere these days, but the really good ones are still hard to find. This award is for independent magazines that have mastered the art of the attractive, informative graphic – it might be a pure infographic, a data visualisation, or some other visual that gets its message across clearly and easily. Our judges are experts in both creating and appraising information design, bringing years of experience to the task.
Duncan Swain
A founding partner of Information is Beautiful Studio, Duncan is an award-winning creative director with 20 years experience in journalism, design and digital platforms. Data visualisation uniquely ties together his skills in a discipline requiring the ability to tell stories beautifully while balancing data, words and pictures.
Teal Triggs
An educator, historian and writer, Professor Teal Triggs is Associate Dean in the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art. She also teaches on MA programmes within the School and has extensive experience in visual communication, design criticism and information experience design.
The entries will remain open until 9 October, after which point we’ll gather the magazines up and send them on to Duncan and Teal. So if you’re an independent publisher, pick out your best pieces of information design published between October 2014 and September 2015 and send them our way, and maybe you’ll be taking home the trophy come awards night.
