Stack Awards: One month to go

There are, incredibly, less than 30 days to go until entries close for the Stack Awards. Thanks very much to all the publishers who have already completed their applications – we’ve had a fantastic response and there are some great magazines filling our extra shelves in the office.

And if you’re still thinking of entering your magazine, don’t leave it to the last minute! We need to have received your actual magazines by Friday 7 October, so get them in the post as soon as you can.

We’ll shortlist the entries and the selected magazines will arrive with our judges around the world by 17 October, so our experts will be able to spend a full month with the titles before our judging day on 17 November. Last year’s awards were mainly judged over Skype, which worked well enough, but I’m really looking forward to bringing some big magazine brains together this time for a full day of debate hosted at Ace Hotel London.

And when the debating is done, we’ll head across to the bar and celebrate with a party upstairs at the Ace. All shortlisted publishers will be invited to join us, giving an opportunity for magazine makers to meet their judges (though of course they’ll be sworn to secrecy until the winners are announced on 29 November).

We’ve had another brilliant year of independent publishing and I’m really looking forward to recognising some of the best work done at the awards. Entries cost just £30, so if you have a magazine you’re proud of, come and join the fun.
