The Stack Awards open for entries
Have you made a brilliant independent magazine in the last 12 months? If so, we want to hear from you for the Stack Awards 2017 – still the only awards programme dedicated to recognising the best work done by independent magazine makers around the world. Entries open today, so follow the link above to see all the categories and their judges.
We want to make sure the awards are genuinely open to all independents, no matter how large or small, so entries still cost just £30 each. But the judging will be as rigorous as ever, and we’ve assembled a crack squad of experts from the publishing and creative industries who will spend a month getting to know the shortlisted magazines before we begin our deliberations. We don’t believe in judging application forms, so if you want the likes of Gail Bichler, Will Hudson or Debbie Millman to pore over your magazine, these are the awards for you!
Entries close on Friday 29 September and the awards will be handed out at our ceremony in London on Monday 20 November, but first of all we’re kicking things off with a launch event tomorrow night (Tuesday 18 July). Bringing together some of last year’s winners, we’ll be catching up with what they’ve been working on this year, and finding out the secrets of their success. At the time of writing there are just a few tickets left, so book your place to join us and hear from Seb Emina (The Happy Reader), Johannes Lenhard (Kings’ Review), Sadhbh O’Sullivan, Hannah Abel Hirsch and Scarlet Evans (Ladybeard), Kirsten Algera and Ernst van der Hoeven (MacGuffin) and Jack Self (Real Review).
We’ve covered some excellent independents on the Stack blog over the last year, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what we discover through the awards this time around. So submit your best work and you could be the one picking up a trophy come 20 November…
