Stack at home: Accent, July 2017
We’d been looking forward to sending out Accent magazine on Stack, because the people and causes they champion are exactly what we look for in a publication. Celebrating the ‘eccentrics’ around us — everyday people who live lives outside of the ordinary — their third issue did not disappoint. Take the introduction to Rana Abdelhamid: an activist from Astoria, Queens, she responded to an act of violence, when a man forcibly tried to remove her hijab, by starting the non-profit organisation Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment (WISE), which trains young Muslim women in self-defence.
Judging by the positive comments sent to us from subscribers around the world, Accent’s narratives inspired more than just us. You can see all of their feedback on our Pinterest board, and scroll down to view our highlights. The best comment also wins a Stack t-shirt, and it’s a good one this time…
