Kajet Journal joins Stack

Frustrated by the “purely anecdotal” understanding of Eastern Europe, Kajet Journal is a beautifully bookish title with new perspectives from the region. Published in Bucharest, Romania, it wants to challenge the stereotypes and misrepresentations attributed to Eastern Europe by mainstream media.

Named after the easternised version of the French ‘cahier’, denoting ‘notebook’, it blends think pieces with culture writing, photography and art. Beyond being fans of print, founders Petrică Mogoș and Laura Naum were inspired by samizdat — the secret distribution of printed materials that were banned by the state, as particularly prevalent in Romania and other formerly communist countries in the area.
