Podcast: Rob Orchard, Delayed Gratification
On Monday night this week we hosted a brilliant event with the makers of Ladybeard, speaking to them about the ideas and inspirations that go into making the magazine – and the practicalities of actually getting it done. I’d been hoping to turn that discussion into this week’s podcast, but it seems that something went horribly wrong with the recording and when I checked the audio on Tuesday morning I found there was nothing there except a nasty, buzzing hiss.
I must have been looking a bit perturbed, because Rob Orchard, editor of Delayed Gratification, came over and dropped a copy of his brand new issue onto my desk. As you’ll hear in the podcast below, I’m lucky enough to share office space with Rob and the rest of the DG team, and I quickly realised that rather than mourning the loss of the Ladybeard audio, I should start again and interview Rob.
So that’s exactly what we did. In the podcast below we speak about sharing office space at Makerversity in Somerset House, the challenge of covering Brexit before it’s really happened, the process for discovering new stories, and we both give away special discount codes for new subscribers. I love hearing Rob speak so this was always going to be a fun one to record – I hope you enjoy it too!
As ever, if you like what you hear, don’t forget to follow us on Soundcloud or subscribe to the feed in iTunes. (I still can’t get over the novelty of seeing the Stack logo alongside all the other podcasts on my phone.)
