Insider: Odiseo magazine
Odiseo magazine takes a fresh look at erotica. Rejecting traditional boundaries like ‘for men only’, it finds the intersection between art, philosophy, and adult entertainment.
We talk to editor Emmy Forss and Folch editorial director Vincenzo Angileri about their inspirations behind the the new issue.
In the making of this issue we:
Lost sleep over…The awkwardness of David Lynch’s “Rabbits”. For no apparent reason, we’re drawn again into David’s work and we may have spent too many hours in the obscure living room where Lynch’s nuts piece takes place.
Met…
Will Hudson, the founder of It’s Nice That and commissioned Wilfrid Wood to shape him in plasteline clay. Read our conversation with him.
Were most pleased by…
The photo series “Sanctum” by Eliot Lee Hazel for Odiseo Vol.8. The lines, landscapes and colours he found in the surface of the human body are so defined and really reflects the sensual abstraction we try to reach with Odiseo magazine.
Argued about…
Who was gonna get coffee.
Got sidetracked by…
Finding a panda bear mask for Vincenzo. Don’t ask.
Procrastinated to…
Our procrastination monkey was obsessed by Wait but Why. We loved to be told about huge and complex issues with long-form storytelling, a lot of irony, and the crucial help of its amazingly-explicative stick figures. At Wait but Why, Tim Urban and his mates delve into a diverse topic each time, from AI to marriage, religion, and email delays. Ah, and please do not miss his TED Talk about procrastination: it cost him “the stress of a thousand suns”.
Listened to…
The legendary saxophonist Fausto Papetti’s slaughtering hits, on repeat. Have a look Odiseo’s last archive from Joe Fletcher — a retrospective on the 48 albums and the same amount of ladies adorning the cover of hour and hours of hedonistic horn.
Realised that…
Our mate Sergi takes causal naps in the storage room with a surfboard as a mattress.
Were impressed by…
The ambient sound of Futura aka Victor Hidalgo’s performance during the launch of Odiseo Vol.8 at Casa Camper last week.
And everyone should buy a copy because…
We won’t persuade you. Erotism and intelligence should be about desire.
