Last night saw the launch of 71a, The Church of London’s new events space. It’s a place for exhibitions, screenings, lectures and workshops, and I’m helping to programme a series of educational talks based around the best of London’s publishing talent.

The first of those talks will take place on Monday night, as Andrew Diprose, art director of UK Wired and The Ride Journal, talks us through a career that has seen him shape some of Britain’s biggest and most interesting magazines. Expect insights into what he learned from the different magazines, the frustrations and opportunities that come from a life in publishing, and useful pointers for how he’s managed to make his designs stand out above the rest.

I’ll lead a question and answer session after the talk, and we’ll be sure to leave plenty of time for hanging around, meeting people and generally having a good magazine-based time.

Tickets are on sale now and are a snip at £6 each, but be warned, they’re likely to sell out fast!
