Cosplay gets its own magazine

Brought to you by the people behind obsessive Romanian magazine Otaku, CosplayGen delves into a niche within a niche to explore the world of cosplay (people who dress up as characters from comic books and video games).

Stack editor Allie has interviewed the Otaku editors before about the weirdness of a Romanian magazine covering what is largely a Japanese phenomenon. Local response must be bemusement and international distribution must be a nightmare, so once again the only real explanation is that the editors just love their subject.

They’ve put up a preview of around 30 pages online and from what I can see there it seems like a picture-heavy documentary of the people involved in the cosplay scene. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for it in London.

And yes, as far as I can tell the picture above seems to be of a man dressed as Bumblebee out of Transformers.
