There’s something special about first issues. On the one hand they’re the finished product – the culmination of weeks and months of thinking and talking and doing. But on the other had they’re just the beginning; a starting place for a magazine that will gradually grow and evolve into itself.

That’s why for the next Printout we’re asking magazine editors and designers to take a look back at the first issues of their magazines. They’ll reflect on what they were trying to do then, how things have changed since, and to what extent they’re still influenced by those early days.

It’s all happening at The Book Club on Tuesday 25 September and we’ll be joined by Guy Andrews, editor of Rouleur; Jacob Denno, editor of Popshot; Alex Bec, director of It’s Nice That; and Charlotte Jacklin and Charlotte Melling, editor and art director of Betty Magazine.

Tickets are available now and as ever space is limited so don’t miss out.
