Sean Bidder is editor of Fact, the music and visual art magazine that was relaunched last year as a big, glossy, biannual publication. I spoke to Sean and Zak Kyes, founder of Zak Group and art director of the relaunch, to find out what brought Fact back to print, and how it fits in with the broader activities of publisher The Vinyl Factory.

Sean has been involved with Fact right from the start, when it launched in 2003 as a small, free music magazine, and in this conversation he explains how that magazine was eventually superseded by the Fact website, and what they wanted to do differently when they decided to bring the magazine back into print last year. Of course 2020 was not the ideal time to be launching a new magazine, particularly one intended to accompany live shows, but like lots of other people they found themselves having to adapt to circumstances and make the best of what the various lockdowns here in London allowed them to do.

They’ve made a really beautiful, absorbing magazine, and I’m pleased to say we have copies of issue two available to buy in the Stack shop now – head over there to see more of the magazine, and I hope you enjoy this conversation with Sean and Zak.
