Good Sport magazine takes a new direction
“Sometimes it just needs to be big…” Ben Clement is the founder of Good Sport, the magazine that launched out of Melbourne in 2014, fusing sport with art, food, fashion and other facets of popular culture. In this conversation he explains how his love for sport and his career as a photographer came together to create the magazine, how it has evolved over the years, and why sometimes sports photography just has to be big.
Earlier this year Ben also started Make Running, a new magazine that paints an impressionistic picture of The Speed Project, an extraordinary team endurance race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. (See the gallery below for some sample spreads.) He speaks about the genesis of that project and where he hopes it might take him in the future, and I’m very pleased to report that Ben has already entered Make Running into this year’s Stack Awards.
If you’ve made a great independent magazine this year we want to see it, so please do send it our way – entries close on 27 September and we need to have received your magazines by then, so there’s not long left! All the details on how to enter, plus the categories, judges and prizes can be found on the Stack Awards page.
