Stack reviews Acid
I love magazines that take a fresh approach to familiar subjects. The second issue of Acid came out recently and really caught my eye with its brash cover colours (which don’t quite come out in the video) and its dedication to telling more unexpected surf stories.
Whereas most surf narratives revolve around an at-oneness with nature, this issue of Acid focuses on the ways in which surfers have bent nature to their will, sometimes deliberately and sometimes by accident. Whether it’s the ultra-thick wetsuits that allow surfers to get out in icy seas, or coastal defences that inadvertently create perfect waves, Acid has pulled together a volume of unexpected and fascinating stories.
