The Movement Movement expands sport
Ellie Jackson is the editor-in-chief and creative director of The Movement Movement, the women’s sports magazine that is committed to broadening our understanding of what sports coverage should look like. Issue one came out a few weeks ago, but that was preceded by issue zero, which came out in 2022, and in this episode of the Stack podcast she speaks about the delay between the two issues, and the struggle to stay on track when life gets in the way.
She also talks about her experience of suffering from chronic illnesses, and I think that gives a useful insight into the motivations behind the magazine. Back when I first saw issue zero, the thing I most liked about it was the determination to look beyond the mainstream, commercial understanding of sport, to create something more holistic, more inclusive, and I think more interesting. It was lovely catching up with Ellie again, so I hope you’ll enjoy hearing her speaking about The Movement Movement.
I’m taking a summer break for the next few weeks, so we won’t have a new episode of the podcast until early September. In the meantime you can browse through hundreds of episodes in our archive, and of course if you follow us wherever you get your podcasts we’ll be able to deliver our next one to you as soon as it’s ready.
