Cereal issue five review
When Cereal launched it was a magazine of food and travel, but the new issue is out now, and it’s made a move away from affairs of the stomach.
Editor Rosa Park spoke at a Stack event recently, and explained that there are two reasons for the move: First, eating is such a natural part of travel that you don’t really need to badge a travel magazine as also covering food. And second, there are so many food magazines already out there, each doing a great job of covering its own specific foodie niche, that it’s hard to find a compelling reason to be involved in another one, unless you really love it.
And there’s the rub. Rosa and her small team are dedicated travellers, in love with the experience of exploring and covering new places. In fact they love it so much they’ve just launched their own series of online travel guides, Guided by Cereal. So they decided to follow their hearts and focus the magazine on the thing they love the most (though a feature on honey still makes it in there).
