Video review: Gentle Rain magazine
I spent this weekend at the Indiecon independent magazine festival in Hamburg and had a blast. It was once again organised by the Hamburg- and Berlin-based creative agency Die Brueder, and they pulled together a fantastic selection of speakers, topped off with the outstanding Indiemagday market on Sunday.
But just because they’d been busy organising a festival didn’t mean the Brueders were going to miss out on the magazine-making fun, and they were also distributing their own new magazine. Gentle Rain is a brilliant piece of publishing commissioned by the Hamburg authorities to show the city in a fresh and distinctive light, and it borrows lots of lovely independent publishing touch points to make for a fun and engaging read.
I’m afraid I made a mistake in the video below, in saying that you have to travel to Hamburg to pick up a copy. The good news is that Gentle Rain is actually available to buy in good bookshops across Europe and beyond, spreading the word of Hamburg’s Hanseatic cool far and wide. Take a look at the video to see inside its pages…
