Yesterday’s vote will go down in Cover Countdown history as the first one decided by Instagram votes. Cereal and Justified slugged it out all day on Twitter with Cereal managing to stay just in front, but Justified mobilised their Instagram supporters with a storm of votes in the comments thread. So good work Team Justified – we’ll see that carefully crafted still life back in the final cover vote on Wednesday 23rd.

And congratulations also go to Scott Limbrick, who wins a year’s subscription to Stack with his photographic vote for Cereal. At least I’m assuming it was intended as a vote, and not just a picture of his kitchen shelves.

Good work Scott – your first free magazine will arrive with the January delivery. And of course we still have a few more chances to win, as the countdown rumbles on to October and a month of beautiful underdogs. There’s a German illustration annual, a Danish-language plant journal and a new Dutch fashion magazine, but which one catches your eye?

Vote for your favourite by tweeting at us and you could end up winning a free year of Stack, just like Scott. Votes close at midnight GMT and we’ll return tomorrow to announce the winning cover and vote. Go!

I mentioned Spring magazine on Monocle's The Stack show on Saturday and I've had a couple of people asking about it since, so here it is in all its blue boobie glory. An illustrated anthology published by a group of women artists based in Hamburg, this issue is themed around private lives and it's awesome.
