Have you got a great idea for an independent magazine but you’re still figuring out how to pay for it? Join our free webinar on Thursday 25 April to hear firsthand from two people who know exactly what it takes to fund a successful magazine via Kickstarter.
Oriana Leckert is Journalism Outreach Lead at Kickstarter. She’s written for Gothamist, New York Post, and Atlas Obscura, and has edited for MTV News, Pitchfork, and The Believer. She is passionate about helping literary creators use Kickstarter to build community and create innovative new publications, and she’ll highlight some unique, successful, and impactful magazine campaigns to inspire you to create your own.
Indhira Rojas is Founder and Creative Director of Anxy, a publication exploring personal narratives and mental health through an artful and creative lens. The first issue of Anxy was Kickstarted in 2016 and since then Indhira has used the platform to fund three more issues. She will speak about what she has learned from using Kickstarter as a way to launch a brand new title, and as a sort of alternative to subscriptions.
We’ll be speaking at 9am (PT) / 12pm (ET) / 5pm (BST) and there will be opportunities to ask questions during the webinar, or if you’d rather ask in anonymity you can also send questions in advance by emailing them to us. To join the session just use the Zoom link below and please do spread the word – this is the first time we’re running an event like this online rather than IRL and I’m loving the fact that we know we’ll definitely be able to fit everyone in!
