Join the Stack affiliate programme

It’s become a bit of a tradition that at this time of year, we ask our subscribers, friends and followers to help us spread the word about Stack. We’ve tried a couple of different approaches over the years: We started with a slightly confusing deal, whereby new members got 10% off their subscription, and the person referring them got a free month of Stack. (Good intentions, but kind of hard to follow.)

Then last year we just asked people to tell us if they knew somebody who should receive a free subscription. (The results were lovely, but not exactly lucrative.)

So this year we went back to the drawing board, determined to find a simple and sustainable way of encouraging people to spread the word about our subscription. Of course there are lots of ways of doing that, but we wanted something that feels meaningful, and that can keep running all year round, not just for a few weeks in Autumn. So we decided to set up the Stack affiliate programme, which will pay 10% commission on all subscriptions set up via an individual referral link.

I know we have proper, bona fide influencers who follow Stack, and I’d love to think that some of them will see an opportunity to promote our subscription and get paid. But we’re just as interested in the people who will recommend Stack in their family WhatsApp chat, or by telling their friends in the pub. If you love what we do, then the affiliate programme is for you.

All you need to do is go to our affiliate sign up page and register your interest. We’ll review your application as quickly as possible, and once we’ve approved it you’ll be able to log in to your Stack dashboard, where you’ll find your own affiliate link (or you can come up with one yourself).

Share the link with friends / family / colleagues / your massive audience on TikTok and you’ll get paid 10% of the value of any subscriptions they set up, within 30 days of their first visit. That means they could follow your link, check out our site, go away, come back a few days later, then sign up, and you’d still get your 10%. And once their subscription is live, you’ll keep on making 10% each time it renews, either monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on the type of membership they choose. And if you tell them to use the code LOVESTACK when they sign up, they’ll get 10% off their first payment.

We’ve never done this before so we’re treating it as an experiment and we want to learn. Is there a specific thing we should be doing to make the affiliate programme work well?
