Just make your magazine
I’ve known Josh Jones for a long time. A serial magazine maker, he has been editing and publishing for more than 20 years, making everything from small zine projects, to international arts and culture titles, to customer publications for big brands. He’s a genuine font of knowledge and last year he decided to write down everything he knows and put it in a book, so that other people can follow his advice and make something of their own.
The book is called Just Make Your Magazine and it came out a few weeks ago, so I caught up with him to find out what it’s all about. In this conversation he speaks about his own approach to publishing magazines, why he wanted to make the book extremely accessible for people with no prior experience, and why anyone who’s thinking about making a magazine should just jump in and give it a go. There’s no mistaking his obvious enthusiasm for the subject, so I hope you’ll enjoy this episode with Josh, and if you want to hear more conversations with magazine makers, just search for ‘Stack magazines’ wherever you get your podcasts and follow us so we can deliver our episodes to you as soon as they’re ready.
