Update

Picking the final delivery of the year is always a challenge. With the holidays comes (perhaps) more time to be spent reading and we wanted to make sure we gave our subscribers a magazine featuring some high-quality long reads. And so naturally the slow journalism pioneer Delayed Gratification came to mind as the perfect fit.

As always, we’ve collected all the photos we could find on social media in a Pinterest board so check that out for some instant magazine gratification! Following are our five favourite photos:

5. Looking back
…as one often does at the end of each year. Here’s Andrew’s Stack year in review, finished off with Delayed Gratification. Lovely stack that is!

4. Cereal, not Cereal

What better way than Tasha’s  to spend a Sunday morning? Stack was made for days like this.

Now this is proper Sunday reading @dg_quarterly from @stackmagazines accompanied by @earlybirduk peach tea & @dorsetcereals granola (found one with no honey! Ecstatic ) I’m a grown up I swear A photo posted by Tasha Minter (@freshminter) on

3. A happy surprise
We’re really happy we could cheer up our friend Matt with this month’s Stack delivery. (Nearly naked Santa card courtesy of Jean Jullien in collaboration with Mubi)

Amongst a sea of bills, sympathy cards, and cremation memorial catalogues … … This really cheered me up. If you aren’t aware of @stackmagazines ( stackmagazines.com ) then check them out. You pay for a subscription, but you don’t know what magazine you will get each month, and many of them are self published and beautifully made. You learn about so many subjects as well as other people’s life stories that you would never go out of your way to read about And to have also created a postcard alongside @jean_jullien for @mubi through Stack is a big honour. The pack of postcards will be available to purchase soon I think! @dg_quarterly #stackmagazines #stack #magazine #jeanjullien #illustrator #illustration #christmas #christmascard #chirstmastree #xmas #delayedgratification #publication #editorial #matroff #matroffillustrator #postcard #santa #illustrator #illustration #art #artist #artwork #comic #cartoon #cartoonist A photo posted by Mat Roff (@matroff) on

 2. Welcome aboard
Finally the back cover of DG gets the attention it deserves! Lovely shot by new subscriber, Mika.

1. 100% koselig
The warm light from the candle casting rays upon Delayed Gratification gives Reema’s photo that perfectly subtle festive look we all associate with the holidays. As they say in Norway, it’s simply koselig. A Stack tee is on its way!

This month’s @stackmagazines is Delayed Gratification, a publication which runs on the philosophy of slow journalism – the telling of a more in-depth and thoughtful news story. I’m excited because this issue touched on the migrant story, one that I could probably use more education on. NB: cover by @obeygiant and postcard by the very awesome @jean_jullien #igreads
