Anyone who follows this blog will know there are lots of independent magazines around at the moment. That’s obviously great news for hardcore print lovers, but the thing I find most exciting is that the enthusiasm for indies seems to be spreading further into the mainstream.

This week sees two pieces of evidence for this creeping acceptance (at least within the UK). First of all, Newsnight will be airing a special report on BBC2 this Friday 13th dedicated to Britain’s growing independent magazine scene. It’s fronted by Lynn Barber from The Sunday Times and I’m really looking forward to hearing her perspective on what’s happening now.

And today sees the launch of a new book written by arts and culture journalist Ruth Jamieson and published by Prestel. Print is Dead. Long Live Print profiles 100 of the most interesting independent magazines currently being published, interviewing their editors, art directors and publishers to find out what makes them tick.

And we have a special discount offer – just give them a call on 01206 255777 and quote STACK to save 25% off the normal price (£22.50 instead of £29.99). The offer runs until 17 April.
