Stack at home: Good Trouble, August 2018

We sent out a gigantic piece of newsprint last month, and Stack subscribers around the world opened their big brown envelopes to Good Trouble’s dissentious printmaking. Covering the intersection of protest and art, it is the brainchild of two veterans in the publishing industry.

Art director Richard Turley and creative director Rod Stanley combined their experiences from Dazed and Confused, Bloomberg Businessweek, MTV and the Guardian to produce this empowering, informative piece of print, jam-packed with ace design and engaging reading that spans a range of resistance movements, from a barber giving homeless people haircuts to a satirical Brexit-themed TV guide (see below).

Read on for some of our subscribers’ reactions — the rest are all collected on a Pinterest board, and the best one, right at the bottom, wins a Stack t-shirt.

6. New Stack identity!
Hurrah for the new Stack envelopes, featuring our new logo and roundel (click on the image to see the full pic.)

5. Visual coolness
Jump-off-the-page iconography and frenetic arrows fill in every available space in Good Trouble, creating a feast of visual inventiveness.

4. Vive la resistance!
We feel pretty inspired by this magazine too…

3. Jungle reading
Seems like Forrest has found a lovely, quiet reading spot.

2. “8am: Full English Brexit”
This satirical TV Guide will make any remainer feel a little less alone.

The Brexit TV Times from the second issue of Good Trouble, this month’s delivery from @stackmagazines. It’s terrific: giant broadsheet format loudly, proudly and wittily celebrating ‘the culture of resistance’. More extracts to come. @goodtroublemag @rodstanley @mr_turley @sophie_abady #francescagavin

This month’s winner is Andres! We’re in love with his living room set up. A Stack tee will be with you shortly…
